Course Description

Basic First Aid Course

The Basic First Aid course covers the legal consideration regarding first aid, such as the Duty to Act, Good Samaritan laws and consent issues. Students will be provided skills to perform victim assessment and protecting themselves from bloodborne pathogens by use of standard precautions. Bleeding control measures and bandaging is also covered in the course, along with caring for victims of shock. Both chemical and thermal burn care is addressed in this training. In addition, care for sprains, sudden illnesses, poisoning and heat and cold emergencies are covered. Each student receives a training manual and a certification card good for 2 years.

  • Medical emergencies (i.e., asthma, diabetic emergency)
