Course DescriptionBecoming a Certified P/EVO InstructorThe Pilot/Escort Vehicle Operator (P/EVO) Instructor Course is a two-day event that will guide the Instructor through the materials and show them how to train Pilot/Escort Vehicle Operators to the standards set by the Washington State Traffic Control Oversight Committee. Upon successful completion of this two-day session, which includes passing an open book exam with a score of 80% or better, the instructor is qualified to train Pilot/Escort Vehicle Operators (P/EVO) and issue the Washington State certification card. The instructor certification is valid for three years. At the end of three years, they are required to take a one-day (6-8-hrs) refresher course. To qualify:In order to become a P/EVO Instructor you must fill out and submit the Instructor Candidate Application Form and submit it along with the required supporting material. If you are unsure of your qualifications for taking this two-day instructor course, you are welcome to submit a statement detailing your work and training experience for evaluation. You will be reissued a current P/EVO card at the time you participate in the instructor training session (presuming you pass the open book test and have met all of the prerequisites). Other expensesWhen you teaching the P/EVO classes, you are required to purchase and issue the P/EVO Student kits with certification cards. Where and who to teachAs long as there is no conflict with your employer's company policies, you are able to offer classes to the general public. Again, make sure you follow their policies. If they say it is okay to teach on your own, then you are free to do so as long as you continue to follow theEvergreen Safety Council guidelines. Currently, Evergreen Safety Council is the only approved provider to issue the Washington State certification card for Pilot/Escort Vehicle Operator.
