Course DescriptionRecreational / Wilderness First AidWhat if there was the need to care for someone injured or suddenly ill for an hour, a day, or even several days; what would you do? Even if you work or live within a fully staffed 911 system, this could apply to you, your family and/or co-workers! Governmental agencies and Emergency Medical Systems (EMS) stress the need for people to be prepared to care for themselves up to 72 hours after a major catastrophe. By participating in this training you can help bridge the gap from basic first aid to caring for someone over a two or three day period. The Advanced and Recreational/Wilderness First Aid courses feature the same dynamic, up-to-date and interactive approach you've come to expect from ESC training programs. The courses address Bloodborne Pathogen training, triage and multi-casualty incidents, AED and emergency oxygen. Extended time is spent on splinting, packaging and how to successfully move someone who is severely injured. The Wilderness program is designed to meet the needs of Wilderness First Responders, wilderness guides, scouting and camp counselors. We have professionally trained instructors who incorporate pertinent information in dynamic skill-based scenarios. The Recreational/Wilderness First Aid course is also periodically offered as an open enrollment course. Please visit the Course Calendar for possible class dates or contact our office for more information. |
