SPT 101A/B Understanding Federal and State OSHA Regulations and Standards/Accident Prevention Program Requirements and Preparation
Requirements and Preparation Part A:
- This session will help students gain an understanding of the history and organizational structure of OSHA, DOSH (L&I) AND OROSHA. Participants will also learn how safety codes are organized, which workers are covered and the services that are offered.
- Participants will become familiar with how safety audits and inspections are done.
- Participants will learn how to find the codes and regulations that affect business and industry as well as how to conduct their own safety audits and how to be prepared for regulatory inspections.
- This course is part of a series of three courses that are offered to enable participants to receive an OHSA 10 card for construction.
Part B:
- This session will present the federal and state legal requirements for an accident prevention program, as well as the elements of an effective total safety program.* Participants will learn appropriate safety terminology and the
elements of a successful safety program, including safety committee organization and the components of written safety plan.
- Participants are taught about the role and responsibilities of a safety officer.
- This program also provides information on what kind of training is required and discusses the benefits of good record-keeping and reviews the OSHA 300 series forms.
