Driving Safety Self-Instruction Programs

Evergreen Safety Council offers two self -instruction training options:

1. CD (order online)

2. VHS with workbook (contact ESC)

Either self-instruction program can be an alternative to the 8-hour Defensive Driving classroom session.  It is important to realize that not all agencies, including courts and insurance companies, accept Self-Instruction Programs in place of the 8-hour Defensive Driving classroom session.  Please check with the appropriate agency prior to registering for Self-Instruction. Both programs' materials are shipped via UPS and therefore cannot be sent to a P.O. Box.

CD

This online training program weaves together video, audio, text and graphics.  To provide the smoothest presentation, this training is accessed and run over the internet, but the video scenarios are supplied by the CD-ROM and run on your PC.  The videos are not downloaded or streamed, which allows any user with any speed modem to get virtually the same response and effectiveness from the training program. The CD will not run on a Mac computer, but you still have the choice of using the VHS.

The Online Driver Safety Campus CD is a web-based driver training program that can provide you with cost-effective driver training and testing anytime and anywhere.  The easy-to-use interactive presentation takes 3 to 4 hours to complete and features full motion video and interactive participation to promote information retention.  Participants learn at their own pace and can start, stop and restart the program whenever needed.  Upon successful completion of the final test, students can print out a certificate of completion.

VHS Tape with Workbook

This program takes approximately 3 hours to complete.  Each student must watch the video, complete the exercises in the workbook, and then complete the test in the back of the workbook.  The test is removed from the back of the workbook and returned with the video in the self-addressed stamped envelope provided.  Participants can keep the workbook for future reference.  Upon receiving the test and video, ESC will send you a completion card if you receive a score of 80% or better on your test.
