Flagger Instructor Certification

Becoming a Certified Instructor (Washington State and MUTCD Compliant Training)

Instructor candidates participate in a two-day training program and receive a specially designed kit of training materials, which is the cornerstone of this exceptional program. Instructors are guided through the materials and shown how to best train flaggers to performance to standards set by the TCOC. As a Certified Instructor, you agree to:

  • Conduct flagger classes consistent with the materials and exam.
  • Present a 6/8-hour training session closing with an open-book exam.
  • Submit training rosters and evaluations from students to the Evergreen Safety Council to maintain your training records.

Flagger Instructors are certified for three years by Evergreen Safety Council. To recertify, you must take an Instructor’s Refresher Course (4 to 8 hours) triennially to maintain current certification.
